Does P4 have rear air vents?

Hi All,

I am trying to make sure that cabin ventilation works well. Does anyone know how cabin air is ventilated out of the car at the back? I couldn't find any factory fitted vents in the boot. But anyway, it looks like there is no way air can get into the boot.

Thanks in advance!

Dmitry

For a time fixed rear quarter lights were fitted and air vents were fitted to the c post. Think this was 70\71, then these vents were deleted and opening rear quarter lights were reinstalled.

There is no free flow ventilation on a p6 unless you crack open the rear quarter lights. Will try and find the picture of the rear vents I operation.

I thought the question was about a P4?

Thank you, Leyland73. The question is about a P4 :)

It's a long (very long) time since I looked at a P4 but my recollection is that there wasn't any 'through-flow' ventilation. If you think about it, the P4 was announced in 1949 and Ford made a huge fuss about their new 'Aeroflow' (through-flow) ventilation in the early 1960s.

Got it.

Thanks a lot for the information!

I have a missing seal at the back of the boot and a rusty hole close to the wheel arch, which I treated with owatrol oil. The parcel shelf position can be adjusted, as I can see - I got a decent size gap there (this can be used for rear seat belts as well with some additional structural elements, I think). This path should be sufficient to ventilate for at least a driver. Looks like to make it silent the air needs to flow through gaps, and panels need to be insulated. I'll try something in the future and post results here.
