Does anyone here have an MGB - or know someone that does?

Hi,
I'm looking to compare the size of MGB and P6 windscreen - size, curvature etc. Wondering if they'd be a replacement option for a roof chop.

i wouldnt of said an MGB screen would of been anything like close enough, you could get a laminated P6 screen cut down, it is possible to do

I saw that done on the telly (Wheeler dealers in the USA maybe) and the bloke was a true artist. He just picked another screen that had roughly the same curvature and was larger than the one needed, and cut it to shape.

Thinking about it in the case of the P6 though, I don't think they have a consistent curve, as I remember it they turn back in at the edges, and that's going to make cutting it down if the pillars have moved inwards because of the chop, a whole lotmore difficult. Otherwise you'd have to widen the roof to match up to the shorter screen pillars.

I'm sure it's do-able, just think long and hard before getting your hacksaw out.

Depends where you section the pillars I guess. The screen can move down an inch or so on its adjusters and any further you could cut the lower edge of the screen to maintain all the top curves and fit to the sheet metal.

I’m flush fitting my screen on my project, will be getting my teeth into that after I finish the sills and arches!

But I see you point Harvey, the tapering inwards looking from the front will make an issue with widths depending how much is chopped

I did an exaggerated scribble to illustrate

Jim, I think you are wasted in the car world, a couple of art exhibitions and you could pay someone else to fiddle with the Rover.

Just sayin'
