The other day I was at the breakers ( is that the coirrect word? place where the take cars apart) and found a 2200 TC with nice powdercoated wheels and tyres.....
But is was a 2200 TC tyres were 195/70 R14 that is the same size as are afitted on my 3500.

The rims of the 3500 are a little wider than the 2000/2200 series i understood. But is there a way to distinguish between the two? the wheels are very nice and i think i can buy them cheap but they are no use if they are genuine 2200 rims. But they might be 3500 rims but i dont know the difference .

in other words what are the differences between the rims/wheels?

thanks in advance!!

The rims are wider on the V8. The width should be stamped on the rim somewhere. 4pot rims are 5", V8 are 5.5"

Thank you Harvey! I took the last 20 minutes to look at my rim very closely but could not find any stamp.... If somebody knows where to look on the rim......that would be very nice to know!

The stamp is in the middle of the valley between the rims - ie: you need the tyre off to see it :D

Why not look for some SD1 rims, they are much nicer to look at and perform very well on the P6B, currently running 205 tyres on mine which does give a substantial improvement in handling and breaking performance.

well that is a matter of taste I guess. I prefer the original p6 wheels with the 35oo S covers. I know the tyres are more difficult but the looks of the sd1 wheels are good but the originals are in my opinion better......no offense of course

beauty is in eye of beholder. there are those whom originality is prime object and others don't mind changing things to suit tastes. where that stops is anybody's guess.

Tyres aren't that difficult if you want to keep original covers and go to a 6" steel rim. 195/70 are easy to get. You can just about cram them on the original 5.5" rim if you like but it isn't ideal.
