Differential Output Shafts - Time to give up?

That is another good thought, perhaps when we get enough feedback from the Jag install boys on how their units perform at speed we will know if such an extension is needed or not.

Why not fabricate an extended housing as part of the new diff installation?
All you would need is a bearing at the right position that is tied into the cradle/frame the diff sits in and a stub shaft that picks up on the new diff's flange and has a Rover flange in the correct position.

or perhaps use a split prop with a center bearing

I think we discussed this a while back when we were talking about angles and eliminating propshaft vibration.

Well that’s exactly what Simon has with his Jag diff, fairly sure he’s taken his “up to speed” with no issues.
Aside from the weight increase the Jag unit is almost a perfect swap in my eyes and available in a multitude of ratios.
I’m all for deviating and finding interesting/unique engineering solutions, but when there’s a clear contender like the Jag/Dana/Salisbury it seems like a no brainer to me.
Mark have you spoken with Si about his setup?

No Jim I have not, I don't think Simon has been on here for a couple of years ?

This forum is an excellent resource, I find it a shame that it appears Facebook seems to be luring people away, I find that site so disjointed and unappealing, I can never pick up and follow any topics on there.

If I can get a couple of shafts made for the Rover diff I will. Its like the ARB situation that took up 13 pages - Jeeez, there is only so much talking to be done, sooner or later someone has to go and make something and then try and break it !

I'm not a member of Farcebook, and I never will be, but I do keep an eye on the P6 public groups, mostly to give me a laugh when I need cheering up a bit...

Hi, I find you need to go on there occasionally to remind yourself why you aren't on there.:)

They serve a purpose and I am a member, but I do keep pushing people towards this fantastic resource !
