De Lorean

I saw the programme. Very interesting, it surprises me that it hasn't been made into a film. (Or if it has, I haven't seen it....)

He was without doubt a wideboy in the worst sense of the word, but the money the UK government ploughed into the venture at least got 2500 people on conflicting sides of the troubles working together, while outside the factory gates it was carnage, so that must have been worth something. The only other person I know of that could work both sides of the sectarian boundaries without getting kneecapped or worse was Barry Mcguigan, and unfortunately there was only one of him, not 2500....

My dear Lady said to me 'was he guilty then'
I said guilty of what ?
Of feathering his own nest and being totally self obsessed - yes, but he bought a great deal of hope and bridged a lot of boundaries in NI.

Bringing it down to earth a personal tale. I used to visit a rural scrapyard in Norfolk that took all of Lotus' waste, and not so waste. One day I went and there were several DeLorean chassis there with engines and drive trains that had been run over with something heavy and the engines smashed with sledge hammers, it was quite a sight along with a lot of brushed stainless body panels. The DMC owners would be going nuts for them now.

A lot of the DMC panels did get saved. There's a company in the US that has pretty much everything. At a price....

Hi, I believe there was a film that did wonders for their secondhand sales, which before that they were seen as an oddity.
