Custom Anti Roll Bar- Cheap opportunity!

the transition from hex to circular is a little abrupt at the points of the hex's.

Look forward to hearing your report on the handling improvement.

I wouldnt recommend milling your own shafts as they will be hardened spring steel! for milling you need to detemper and retemper once finished milling.

Actually the Peugeot bars machine very easily Graeme.
I talked the radiusing design through with the machinist, I have complete faith in his opinion. He’s been working with racing teams for decades and actually produce their own roll bars for mustangs amongst other cars, he’s 69 and still working daily.
I will have changed so much on the car by the time of testing but I’m sure it will have the desired effect!

Thats a little worrying if they are easy to machine, hardened steel is not what you want to see on your Lathe or Mill.

if you mean the chamfer between round and hex end, it´s required to reduce stress at this point (or, simpler, not to have stress at a "point"). You will need it for thicker hex ARBs or for round-to-hex ARBs.

Great thread (as so many in this forum)

I wrote Steve (and Peter) a few days ago. They still produce the Anti-Roll-Bar for P6.
The Price increased a little: 140 GBP + packing + shipping.
I ordered one today, 24mm.

They offer a 24mm and a 25mm version.

cheers,
Simon

BTW: classeparts... after i tried to get into buisness with them last year (i already begged for 1 month to get a set of police spoilers) i asked for their anti-roll-bar a few days ago.
"I will be back to you..." hmmm... i think they don't need to sell their stuff.

Yep, I asked Classeparts about police spoilers and never had even an acknowledgement. At their prices he probably doesn't need to sell much.

hmm. I always get a mid range heart attack when cornering above 35mph in my rover. agree t holds road but the degree of roll is heart stopping! so if? theres a reasonably priced into roll bar we can buy? its probably going to sell but depending on number of owners needing/wanting and thinking its a worthwhile upgrade.
maybe an 'advert' in a few rover clubs magazines ? there are after all at least 2 rover p6 clubs in Uk alone . agree a thicker roll bar is best and NO sudden changes in section or stress points is good. so chamfers or radius ( better) will reduce fracture points.

Have to say the review is mostly correct but the is a slight reduction in ride quality on more uneven roads. Mostly not noticeable though.
