Correct Vehicle Identification

Hi

I recently purchased a car that was sold as a 1959 P4 75 but some have suggested it may not be a 75, more like a 90 so, is there any way to get the correct model identification? Would the body number prove what it is and is there a Rover Register to check it out properly? Many thanks for any help

There are a couple of clubs. The P4 Drivers Guild (P4DG) and the Rover Sports Register (RSR) which covers all Rover models and has a lot of very knowledgable people in it.

Out of interest, what does it say on the grille badge above the sales? The Rover 75 was discontinued in 1959 and succeeded by the 80, so it could be a 75.

thanks for reply. There is no script on the car at all and nothing above the sales . I should have explained that the young guy I bought it from thought it was a 1952 p4 but was not sure as it was his Grandfathers car. I spoke to a very experienced Rover owner on FB who explained it was a 1959 P4 75 so I do believe that is what it is but wanted to be certain for rego etc. Here it is leaving the old owner this morning

The chassis number would indicate the model. Should have a plate with it on. LH front Door hinge post area, visible with the door open. Right Hand Drive 1959 MY 75 would start 6059 , and a 90 6109 . Source :- Rover Workshop manual no. 4503 dated 1965
