My p5b has sprung a leak from a core plug on the intake manifold, does anyone know the size or part number?

The engine is from a later SD1 with SUs

Its the small one on back near the passenger side carb. see picture

next question what's the best way to get the d**n thing out, not quite as simple as the large ones where you knock one side in and the other pops out

That is unlucky. To get you going lower the coolant level, clean the plug up and fill it with JB Weld, it will probably last the summer and give you a chance to find a plug.

I would drain down enough. coolant to be sure it won't. pour out..then assuming w have enough clearance ? pop screwdriver in one side and try and lever. one edge away carefully. last thing we want to do is damage the plug seating bore.
clean bore lightly . measure bore.. then do web search and check rover forums ..rover suppliers for. welch plug ( know as core plugs) that size. DO use an sealer adhesive when. fitting new. loctite do one but cannot recall item. name/number. wait over night for adhesive /sealer to dry. then refill and test ..

Hi

Thanks I'll have a look, in the meantime I got the old one out using a small punch its looks like a 10mm.

Cheers
