Convertible up for auction

It appears not to be a convertible, with a proper folding roof, and a proper two door conversion, with the doors lengthened to compensate for the reduced access to the rear seats, like a properly executed conversion and like the 'factory' one-off or the Grabers.
Instead it seems to be a P6 with the roof cut off and the rear doors welded shut and smoothed over and the window frames removed.
And a tonneau cover.
Not a convertible which as the name implies can be converted from roofed to roofless by folding a roof down.
It is a roofless Rover for fine weather use.
And access to the rear seats by clambering over the sides.
What was that adage about doing a job properly, or not doing it at all?

I like the look of the 'ordinary' 2000 and the Rover BRM though.

Doing it properly is hard and expensive, while this... isn't. :p

I've always liked the looks of the proper convertible P6s (like the Graber ones), but this just seems a tad useless...

It was a lot less the last time I saw it.. and I turned it down then. Not interested in chop jobs, especially with the DVLA updating its rules about significantly modified vehicles.

You have to admit the lines do look very clean and neat, I quite like it.
With reference to ChrisW. I wonder how owners of Tickford and Crayford convertible's who's cars were chopped in period by aftermarket companies are going to get on with the new rules - or is that another can of worms best left unopened ?

Well I am planning to attend the auction so I will take a look at it (and the SC) and report back.

Modifications done in period or more than 30 years ago are allowed.

How do you prove something has been done >30 years ago...? If it's from an official firm I can imagine proving it is easy, but when it's a 'home job'?

Hi, In this case, probably having the logbook or V5 changed to convertible at the time.
