Cold Start (Choke) Switch and Choke Warning Light

I know this topic has been covered before so please excuse silly, stupid questions. According to the circuit diagram, the choke switching has two switches. One on the engine block to operate, on warm up, the switch behind the choke cable knob. Please ;let me know if this is correct and also if correct, let me know where the switch on the engine block is located. Thank you in advance. Tom

Correct , both switches have to be closed for the light to work , so with a cold engine and the choke out the light stays off, when the engine warms up the second switch in the head closes as well, to remind you to push the choke in. If you have already done that the light wont come on. The switch in the head is in the thermostat housing below the elbow to the radiator , it has one wire to it and is often referred to as an 'Otter' switch as it is made by Otter Controls Ltd in Buxton Derbyshire

Can anyone tell me if this switch is available? Ever since I bought my 3500S the choke warning light has come on a soon as he hoke is pulled out. Switch appears to be corroded into the block and I dare no touch it until I have a spare.
Not a big deal, but I like to have things working as they should

Test the switch by checking the light stays goes out if you detach the wire from the Otter switch, if it does its the switch , if not there is a short in the wiring., or the previous owner may have bypassed it . I may have a used one on a spare engine , I will have a look and advise As far as I am aware they are no longer made. S/H ones are sometimes available as they were used on all Rover products in the 70's . I have seen new ones the same shape but are for radiator fans so the temp. setting is too high. Edit I have just found copies on ebay, correct part number 545010 .Land Rover Series 2 2a 2.25 2.6 Otter Choke Warning Light Switch 545010 V60 | eBay

Thank you for your replies. Now that I know where the Otter switch is, the fix was easy. A loose connection. The car is getting close to being on the road. The few items needing attention are the choke cables to the carbs, replacing tappet cover gasket, tuning carbs and replacing a few instrument panel globes which I'm finding difficult to locate. Maybe not looking in the right places. Cheers Tom
