Classic Cars in Music Videos

The orange thing that crosses in front of the camera at about 2.25 is an early '70s Mustang. Somewhere around '71-'73.

Al Martino eh? I've only heard Miss Piggy's version of that song.

Does a Peugeot 309 count as a classic? Doesn't matter, I love this song. And Julia.

And a cool truck with Julia and her band.

Something completely different. A bit of reggae/dub and an Aussie Mini.

And a nice mellow track with a late '60s Holden and some great NZ scenery.

And a bit of hip hop... but he's quite funny and there are lots of cars. And girls. :D

Hadn't heard any of those tracks before KR. I liked Julia and her first track especially. The nice mellow track with the late 60s Holden was not available in Australia, so I couldn't watch that one.

The one (not) to see is Fastway's 1983 hit Easy Livin' which I recall has a burning P6 shell swinging from a cable.... :(

Can't find it anywhere on the 'net though - only live videos out there. Anyone got a copy?

Don't know that one at all Phil.. :(

Here are some more classic tracks from the 80s with an array of different makes and models including a Rolls Royce.

Good stuff... :D You only see the car for a split second, so I am pleased that my eyes did not deceive.

Thanks Colin!

That's magical, isn't it! Hollywood must have gone to considerable trouble to assemble that collection, even when they were new.

Does anyone recognise the grey four door saloon with a lamp in the centre of the radiator? My guess is a Fiat of some sort, but I'm not sure.

Chris

Hollywood must have gone to considerable trouble to assemble that collection, even when they were new.

A New Yorker, Max Hoffman, was the Jaguar, Ferrari, VW, Benz, BMW + Porsche ( + many others incl. Rover ) importer + agent into the USA back then; not relinquishing his agency for BMW until 1975
That movie set could have easily been filmed in a 1959 "Max Hoffman" showroom + I doubt his arm would've had to be twisted very hard to lend Hollywood the space or the cars given the free advertising that film would've gained him; even Honda didn't have a store in the USA until 1959, Toyota had tried a few of their cars in the States in '58 but didn't setup shop until much later... This is a round-about way of saying: all these cars were likely sourced back then from that one importer; so not as difficult to get in one place then as these would be now

Hoffmans Park Ave. showroom was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright; this design later became an inspiration for the Guggenheim museum Sadly, it's no longer there ( went looking for it in 1998 ) but has been modified out of all recognition into a Mercedes dealership
