Chrome powder coating wheels

Has anyone had this done?

I know there is a post on here where someone had their rostyles done and it looked like a bright aluminium but i can't find the post right now

I enquired locally (I'm in Skipton, North Yorkshire UK) and they both said you will only get a silver finish. But on videos like these
they end up with a decent finish. They both use something called 'Super Chrome' with a clear coat

Also this article suggests if the wheels are currently chromed (P5 rostyles) you will want to get them chemically dechromed first Chrome Effect - CTC Powder Coating Does anyone know if that is true?

Then there is this listing for refurbishment. It looks like it is by someone called David Green in Bury St Edmunds who seems to be known in the P5 community but is also 200 miles from me Rover P5 P5b Jensen Austin Westminster Wolseley 6/110 Austin 3L Rostyle Wheels | eBay

There was a thread a number of years ago on the P5 forum about this. I seem to remember that it was a bit involved in as much that the wheels (Rostyles) had to be separated for the process to be fully successful and even then wasn't 100% convincing finish. However, it was an alternative to re-chroming which at the time was difficult to find due to being a dirty process, I think things have improved since then.

Hi, I had a trials bike frame dechromed then powder coated in chrome back in 2013 locally to you at Trevon industrial coatings in Colne, they didn’t do the dechrome just the powder coating , had the dechrome done somewhere near Manchester but I can’t remember where sorry , I think in the end that I’d thought the dechrome was an expensive waste of time as Trevon still blasted it anyway before the coating. It has stood the test of time well though

Further to this, I've just seen this Youtube video showing the hydrochrome process. Which is again fairly involved, plenty of opportunity for it to go wrong. :hmm:
