Hi, There is a rumour that the above chassis number belonged to the first P6 3500 off the production line and that it was used by Lord Stokes as his company car for a time - can anyone verify this? Are there any previous owners in the P6ROC?
 
The 426 commission numbers were produced for the 3500 RHD Export from March 1968 to August 1970 with 1,866 being built, but the 425 commission numbers started in July 1967!

Do you have any more info on this P6?

just a tip, for anyone that doesn't know. the Rover P6, book by James Taylor, is a veritable encyclopaedia of facts and figures of this sort, including all the chassis number changes. In fact it is the book for this sort of info. Just a shame its so expensive now. I remember seeing it on ebay for £12 and thinking
" nahh i'll wait and bide my time to get it cheaper" Alas i never saw it so cheap again, indeed it went for as much as £40 sometimes!
On Amazon its worse for £40, £67, up to £140+!!!

So if you see a copy for under a tenner, do yourself a favour snap it up. Its not all data by any means in fact it is seen as the ultimate Rover P6 book, with tons of interesting stories and info inside.

Fortunately this story had a nice ending for me. I found it mis indexed on amazon uk, by googling it. There i found it on a page all on its own for £6 :D

The car is curreuntly being rebuilt in the UK.
Not sure if it ever made it out of the country - a Heritage Certificate might tell me.
The car has a P6ROC sticker on the windscreen so there might be some record of previous ownership in the P6ROC files.
The Reg No. is YXC 361F

I would be interested to know any details regarding the original colour, trim level, and whether it was actually exported.
When was it registered on the database and when did membership lapse?
