Carpet Pieces Mystery

Hello

I recently purchased a carpet set from JRW. Unfortunately the main runner had no cutout for the NADA 3500 floor accelerator pedal so those have to go back. I expect I will have to get something custom made. But on the topic of the misc pieces I have absolutely no clue where they go (see pic). Any clues?

I did the sill and rear seat segments to an average but not totally awful standard considering I previously went on a bender with the sound deadening insulation so the carpet does not fit too great. I am now faced with the vast expanse of the transmission tunnel segment and I am thinking it might be a bridge too far......

Well two pieces will be the inner front arches in the footwells. By the looks of it also, two will be separate pieces for the lower a-pillars. Two perhaps in the rear door area. Other two, no idea.

None of them go on the seat mount covers - these are all I have so I don’t have four of anything. It would have been nice to get just a rudimentary pic of there they go.

Ha ha! Good luck! I remember doing mine. The most difficult part was the front of the sill carpets. You need fairy dust for those! The problem is that they are folded in a very specific way to fit the curved shape. If you haven't removed yours yet, take them off and note the folds. I didn't! Also the original carpet is very thin there so folds easily. By replacements were Coverdale so great quality and fit but much thicker which didn't help!!

Crackin job! BTW do you have a picture of the section just out of view which shows where the shin bin retaining strap fits? I lost the holes!

Did you also have a sound deadedning panel behind the glovebox, mine didn't have one and I got it from elsewhere. I wonder was it there on early cars at all?

Yes the crazy folded part is a bit of a challenge but I just about worked it out after random folding. Have not glued it in yet though.....

I glued in the wacky folded part and it came out okay on both sides. But I placed the rectangle tunnel piece on the tunnel. How a flat thing will go around the curves, I have no clue - especially with the insulation backing. I think it’s impossible basically and I can’t see how to attempt it.

Hi, Many years ago I did a factory visit to the Vauxhall plant at Luton, at the carpet station they laid a flat piece of carpet over a cast iron replica of the floorplan and beat the carpet into shape with rubber mallets. So you can do the same if you use the ball of your hand to aid it into the contours.

I think a trip to the upholsterer is the only option as I rate my chances as nil. I am going to need custom mats to handle the floor accelerator pedal anyway. If anyone has bought a mat that fits the NADA 3500S I would be interested in the details.

I had NOS LHD floor mats from Pierre. On the back, there is a cut out in the padding for the floor dip switch. So I guess these are correct for NADA as well but you would struggle to match the rest.
