car stereo - speakers and radio

hi dave, ive recently bought, off ebay, for only a tenner inc the p/p!!!!,""the seller did not know if, or how, it all worked,so it was a gamble, but it paid off!!"":p An audioline stereo fm cassette player in the old 2 knob fitting style, that has the dictate facility on it, also, it can record straight from radio to tape!! I have used it on a couple of journeys, to make a compilation tape of my favourite tunes, however I need to get a suitable microphone to plug in to test the dictate function, not that I am going to use it!! but it helps if it all works as it should. ??? anybody got any idea,s for getting a mike for it? :)

Two Observations:
I often wish I had that dictation device to record what the officer of the law ACTUALLY said and heard at the time. Seems things change by the court date.
On the CD player cuting out: Most modern devices have a thermal cut-out to protect circuits when they overheat. There isn't much airflow in that glove box, so it could be the unit is heating up during those loud volume times.

Thinking about the stereo cutting out, I wonder if it's getting enough volts, rather than the amperage .Could the alternator not be charging enough ?
