can not remove front wing

hi there.
I am trying to remove the front n/s wing for painting, and following the workshop manual to the letter.
I have removed all the bolts, and the front bumper, so as to pull the wing forward and remove.
There is no mention in the W/M about having to remove the bumper, but that is the only way, because if you dont, you cannot slide the wing forward!
Then it says to remove the 2 screws from under the wing? There are no screws to be seen, but the wing is holding on for dear life at the btm corner , near the door hinges.
I have opened the door and cant see anything from that view point.
Q: does the door have to be removed before starting the job, to gain access to other fastenings, namely the 2 illusive screws?

Leave the door on.
Look under the car, there is a tab with 2 screws that screw upward into the lower sill area, they are probably covered in underseal. remove the screws and the wing will come off.

Like the man said -pesky little screws at the bottom

Hi, Yes there is a strip of metal that is pop riveted to the wing and the other end is self tappered to the sill. I have known one or even both ends to be welded by s previous owner. You can remove the wing without removing the bumper but it is easier without the bumper there, less risk of damage to the paintwork.

hi there all, thank you for your helpful advice,
as said I found the pesky little screws at the btm of the wing , they were totally covered up by the arm and pad of the hoist , with the car raised.
Solution: lowered the hoist, repositioned the arm and raised to a working height, found the 2 pesky screws, undid them, lowered the hoist, grabbed the wing in 2 hands and pulled backwards, the wing came away in
my hands, then removed the other drivers side wing in less than 5 mins...............such is life on the edge, tempting doom and gloom but being rewarded on a peaceful , quiet Sunday afternoon with joy.....ahhh :)
