Calling all Scottish forum members

There seems to be a growing number of Scottish forum members (me, FrazzleTC, Obeaston, JVY, arthuy etc) and I wondered if we had enough for a regular get together on a monthly basis? I know some of you will be members of other clubs, I'm also a member of the Borders Vintage Auto Club, but there are not that many P6 owners that I know of in that club so I wondered if there was any interest/enthusiasm in having a regular forum members meeting. I realise Scotland is a big country but there seems to be a core round about the central belt area.

Thoughts?

Dave

I'd definitely be up for a Rover meet in Scotland. Somewhere nice and central would be good, any suggestions? Perhaps somewhere like Moffat would be worth considering, as it's just off the motorway, and about an hour from everyone? But yes, a regular meet would be good, and I'm pretty flexible as to location.

There are quite a few in an around the Central belt.

Might be a good off season thing to do. Lots of shows on during the summer to meet up with each other but not much once they have finished.

The East and West coast P6ROC members have meetings in Glasgow and Ratho near Edinburgh. They aren't offical club meets and we are open for other Rover owners. We have the RSR, P4, P5, P6 owners at our West Coast meeting. My gripe is that they are in the evening (1st Wed and 2nd Sun). It is not to bad during the Summer but in the dark winter months it is not much fun.

I would be up for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon meet somewhere. Just need to get the P6 sorted out now

Colin,

thanks for the suggestion. Due to family/work commitments I am a little reluctant to suggest a place or time as I would feel bad if I couldn't attend. I haven't even managed to attend the P6ROC Glasgow meeting (BTW could you remind me again where/when it is - will try to make more of an effort this year).

Personally, I only tend to have my car on the road March-Oct. Weekends would probably suit me best. Though, I can't imagine being able to attend maybe more than once a month. I am tending to think that, if the more commited organise something, I would do my best to fit in.

So far there are 5 of us, me, FrazzleTC, arthuy, Obeaston and JVY. Just been checking my diary and the first weekend (if weekends are better for people?) I'm free is 2/3rd April (with the 3rd being Mothers' Day). 2 weeks after that is Drive it Day and the BVAC have a run planned starting in Gala.

How about we start with the furthest north, which of those who have responded I think is Obeaston in Fife and then we can work our way south over a few months until we get to FrazzleTC in Dumfries. The closest person could suggest a suitable venue, perhaps for a pub lunch and we can go from there.

What do you guys think?

Dave

That sounds great. Weekends can be a little tricky for me, as I don't finish work until 5 on Saturday and Sunday, but I'll see if I can work around this depending on what suits everyone else best. :)

Hiya,

2nd or 3rd April fine by me, or anytime that suits everyone.
Let me know who's coming and I'll book somewhere local (Kelty) for a lunch - take it it's lads only??
Hope to meet some of you soon.

Bring an empty boot and some overalls - I'll fill it the boots with junk while you all restore my car :D
Had an email today from the Heritage centre letting me know it was built 1st to 4th September 1972 - so worth restoring just to get tax free motoring.

Either day is good for me, not sure about Frazz though, he might be working. How do you feel about bringing significant others? Mine enjoys a run out to the pub. Kelty's just over the bridge too.

Good news on the build date so absolutely worth recommissioning :D

Dave

If that date suits everyone else, then please keep that date, and I shall do my best to plead with my boss. If I can't get the day off, I'll try to get to the next meet. :)

Just joined the Forum today and pleased to so much intrest in P6's in the East of Scotland. I live in Bonnyrigg and have owned a '71 2000 for about 15 years. I am retired but would be interested to meet. I would have thought most guys would want to avoid 3rd April...lose too many brownie points!

Hi Ivan

I've not seen your car around and I pass Bonnyrigg regularly.

Good point, well made.........unless you don't have any kids of course or live so far away from parents that it makes no difference

Hi, I'm Gerry. Just introduced myself. Interested to know how far you all got with arranging a Scottish meet....

Hi Gerry

Welcome to the forum. Whereabouts are you?

Not really got anywhere with this. Everyone seems too busy or working or got other meets to attend :(

It was just a thought......

Dave

Nice to see another Richelieu 2200tc.

At our meeting the other week we spoke about a road run on our normal club night. Probably meeting at the West Park Hotel Clydebank and then to Luss on the bonny banks of Loch Lomond.

I will put details up next week whether it is a goer or not.

Not sure where you are but a group of P6/P5 owners meet on the 1st wednesday of the month around 7.30pm in Clydebank. All welcome no club membership required, we are all members of various clubs or in some cases none at all.

Colin

Since we have the longer evenings now, can we try to get the ball rolling on this again. I'd very much like to get to a meet, if we can find a time that suits us alll?
