BW35 - car won't start when warm

Cards on the table... my BW35 is in a 1969 MGB GT. I hope, however, this may help other users!

I recently had a reconditioned gearbox and torque converter fitted after mine failed. Although there is less "urgency" to the acceleration with the new gearbox (I can live with this, or perhaps it will improve as the gearbox runs in) I'm pretty happy with it.

However, when the car gets fully up to temperature, if you switch the engine off, it won't restart until it's cooled down. Half an hour is enough but I haven't tried less.

It doesn't even try to turn over and behaves as it would if the selector were in "D" or "R". The selector definitely doesn't need adjustment (it won't start in "N" either). The issue is only present when the car is at normal operating temperature.

Does anyone have any inspiration please? I've found as a matter of course with this car that replacing one thing usually upsets another!

Thanks

Steven

Hi, Have you tried adjusting the switch on the side of the gearbox? Try holding the ignition switch in the start position and then move the gear selector backwards and forwards, does the starter respond then? If so the gearbox switch needs adjusting because it's probably right on the point of working and not working.

That's the correct switch, but beware, a lot of the new ones are very poor quality.

Try adjusting your one first.
