I HAVE NOTICED ON SOME POSTED P6 GALLERIES THAT SOME CARS HAVE THE BUMPER STOPS (CHROME BIT WITH THE RUBBER STRIP) ON THE REAR BUMPER, IS THIS STANDARD?

MINES IS A 73 3500S

REGARDS JOHN(SCOTLAND)

Dear John,
I believe that overiders (three different types) were optional on earlier 2000 models but were standard fixtures from the three thousand five models onwards, although the 2000 type were underriders rather than the V8 overriders.
This is from memory only so I may well be corrected!
Regards, John.

THANKS JOHN,

THE MAIN POINT I AM TRYING TO MAKE & FIND OUT IS THAT MY 73 ONLY HAS THE TWO "OVERIDERS" ON THE FRONT BUMPER, NONE ON THE REAR, ARE OR WERE BOTH BUMPERS FITTED AS STANDARD ? IVE CHECKED EVERY INCH OF MY REAR BUMPERS, NOTHING INDICATES THAT ANY OVERIDERS WERE EVER FITTED & I AM TRYING TO KEEP THE CAR AS ORIGINAL AS POSSIBLE.(HAVE I OPENED A CAN OF DEBATABLE WORMS HERE?)

REGARDS JOHN.

My 1973 3500S has rear overriders. They fit round the bumper so you won't see any sign of mounting points if yours have been removed. My guess is that yours rotted out at sometime and were removed.

I agree - I'd be surprised if these were only fitted to the front and not the back.

THANKS TO ALL FOR THE HELP AND ADVICE, NEW OVERIDERS NOW ON THEIR WAY FOR MY "BARE" REAR BUMPER,COURTESY OF A CONTACT TIP FROM PETE,

REGARDS JOHN.

P.S ANYONE ANY CONTACTS FOR TOWBARS?

Can anyone tell me where i can get a full (Decent) set of overriders for my 3500? It looks wrong without them!

Thanks, Speedy ???

It isn't just 3500 that have overiders, my 1973 2000SC has a has them fitted - it seems Rover had no set ruling on which cars they were fitted to!

Just read Speedy's comment on over-riders... am I the only one who thinks the car looks better without them? ???

:) I personally think they do too, I'm not keen on loads of added on bits.

My 1976 2200TC had them on when I got it, I think by then rover were just throwing everything on to get rid, ready for the SaD1...... (silent "a")

I removed them, along with door handles, boot handle, badges..... etc...
