breaking axles

has anyone twisted one of the short axles off? not a half shaft but the stubby axle behind the disk. I have done 2 in 26 years which is good, considering i am putting 320 hp through them with a slippery diff.

It's a common problem even with the standard power output.

I get them retempered through a friend who is big into speedway down here, that makes them stronger.

One of the main reasons we went Jag diff with ours, although we never actually had one fail.

Also using the holden and ford ujs help protect them because they arent as strong as the original rover part here in oz, but are a lot cheaper.
