Brake Warning Light, misfunctioning???

Hi, My series 2 3500 v8 auto's Brake Warning Light comes on when driving at about 55--60mph! But goes out whenever I ease off the throttle. The light flickers at that speed and only stays on if I exceed 60mph! Any idea guys? Could it be a faulty earth? Or maybe the switch on the pads is faulty?

I have checked the reservoir, all correct. The float is new from a modern wine bottle. All connections were checked, seem ok.

Any info is most welcome.

check the fluid level and switch. easiest way to find the culprit is to disconnect one thing at a time till it goes out
hope this helps

Ron & Coop, thanks for all that. I will have to get my mechanic chap look at the pads etc, but the Brake fluid is ok and yes it could be the switch. When I know you'll know, ok.
I am at this moment in time recovering from a Total Knee Replacement Operation, so getting down on ones knees is a mite difficult at the moment.

Hi, one sitting down job you could try is the switch on the back of the handbrake lever.
It could be right on the point of switching on and the vibration of the speed maybe enough
to close the circuit.

Hi, to one & all.

The culprit was a bad earth plus some connections were a bit dirty. So after a good clean etc, all is now working 100%! This car is sure a great car to drive at anytime, I just love it!!
