Brake lights not working - nor brain! – Solved!!!

Hello Wilfried, jumper the two connections and then the brake lights should light up. If not, then it is not the switch.
Greetings Bernd

Hi,

Problem solved!
One of the connections was lost as you can see in the picture. I tried to solder the wire to the remaining material, which was successful. However, the switch itself is also defective. Which means I could measure about 30 Ohms while pushing the brake inside the car ( I’m extremely flexible o_O) , so replacement is needed. I ordered a new one which I hope to receive this week.

Thanks and have a lovely evening!

Wilfred

The thread, at least in my 1970 TC, is 3/8 X 24 UNF.
The problem with new Lucas ones, in green boxes, is that they usually last only a few months. Perhaps if you can wire in a relay, you will help the switch live for longer.

I confirm that a relay will help a switch that needs higher than usual pressure to turn on the brake lights, to return to normal operation.
