borg warner 65

hello i have question about a borg warner 65 gearbox .its a Harvey question i think .i wood like tho buy a box from a jaguar xj-serie 2 i have all the pices tho re-converse it for for a P6 . box only has 60.000 km . Butt its a few years out of a running car . dont now if the oil is stil in the box . wat could be a problem en witch things do i need to do before putting the car . hoop you are all safe kind regards Marc .

Changing a Jag BW65 so that it will fit into a P6B means completely dismantling the box in so far as removing all the major components.

If it has been standing unused empty of oil then the seals can dry out and crack, if it has oil in then the portions of any seals above the fluid level are at risk of the same problem.

As you would have to dismantle the box to do what you propose, you may as well dismantle it that bit further and reseal it.
