Boot Lid Stay.

I have a series 1 P6 2000tc with a boot mounted spare.Obviously this makes the lid very heavy and it wont stay open. When I attended a show earlier in the year I saw that the series two were fitted with a boot stay for just such a purchase. Were these not fited on the series one as I cannot find anywhere obvious it would fit.As I use my car most days it is very awkward trying to put things in the boot. Are these available anywhere?Do they fit on the series one.

Thank You
Tony Jenkins.

The prop was on all of the bootlids with the conversion. (Or should be). It doesn't matter Series 1 or 2.

I stuck a gas filled stay on mine .
That took the weight factor out when lifting the boot lid with the tyre mounted .
I had to take the car to a gas stay shop and they weighed the boot lid/tyre and then manufactured the stay for those calcs.
Easy fit and looks fine .Cost was b....all

Thanks for the replies.I will continue my search.I will have to have a proper look at one with the conversion and go from there.
Thanks
Tony Jenkins

You're looking for three bits: a small bracket riveted to the boot lid, the stay rod itself and then the bracket that attaches to the base unit where the jack & toolkit live.

Ive got a shed with P6 spares in it somewhere too. Ive never itemised my stocks and my brain is leaking the memory

thanks for responses. will get a 1/4" bar after xmas . did see a new stainless one on Ebay but at £50 is far too deep my my pocket money fund ( pensioners are not all rich!) update : bar now cut and waiting next step (after xmas)that is bending and welding 1 end. then bend other end and paint/fit. The plastic. 'sliding roller' ? part will be next to worry about making up.
