Best Regarded Specialist?

I'm after a bit of advice from those that are in the know please.
Who is generally regarded as the best P6 specialist these days for body, mechanicals and general restoration quality?
I'm based in the north of England but would be fully prepared to travel to the right place.

As nice as my car already is, I'd like to take it to the next level and get it into real show condition. :)

I am told by many other P6ers that M H Annable & Son in Derby have a very good reputation indeed. They are considered specialists in all things Rover P6. I would suggest giving them a ring.

Unfortunately you'll be waiting over a year for their services....

Colin Gould outside of Oxford is very good.. but there really aren't that many P6 specialists around these days.

There is also Andy in Colchester who comes recommended by a few people. He is mostly mechanical.

There was a chap up here in Yorkshire, who helped me out a couple of times. I think his name was Dan Nicholson? It maybe Priory engineering but I could be wrong.

I understand that Colin Gould has recently passed away
Sadly, eggbert66b is correct. Colin Gould, proprietor of Kingsdowne Garage, did indeed pass on earlier this week. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Rover P6, and will be much missed by enthusiasts of these cars. One less wise sage.

Indeed - the attached link is very outdated but gives an insight into his background before Kingsdown Garage Restoring classic cars

I am so sad to learn of Colin’s passing.

He did a huge amount of work on my Almond P6 in 2017, finally putting it back on the road for me after many, many years being laid up in the garage. When I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2022 I had to sell the car and he agreed to buy it from me, and continued with the restoration. We kept in touch and he occasionally updated me with his progress on the work.

He was certainly a bit of a character, and one of the foremost P6 experts in the country I am sure.

I know he was suffering with his health, and was apparently in a lot of pain from back problems.

A great loss to the P6 community.

RIP.

I'm also very sorry to hear of Colin's death. I bought my 2200SC from him back in 1994 when I was in my first year of university and he was working from a farm building down the road in South Marston. The Rover was less than 20 years old at the time and was my only car for several years. I still have it today, though sadly it has been off the road for the last ten years or so. Colin was a great mechanic and superb welder who really knew and understood the P6. I once watched him change the supposedly difficult rear pads and discs on my car in just half an hour while I waited. He kept my car going for 15 years or more, and even after less use rendered it less reliable I'd drop in every few years to say hi and for him to nag me to get it back on the road. He was certainly a character, although when I last saw him a year or so ago he was clearly ill and sadly seemed quite cross with his lot in life. However he was instrumental in getting me involved in classic cars when I was young, and showed me they didn't have to be reserved for high days and holidays. His passing is a real loss to the P6.
