Beauty is More than Skin Deep

Here's the spigot. Rich says it's a touch loose on the shaft but seems within tolerance & he has to get the old one out of the flywheel to try it there:

The instructions did specify a good running clearance so hopefully this isnt a problem:

I also sent a couple of photos of Rich measuring the input shaft & crankshaft hole so there was as much info supplied as possible:

Half a millimetre too large for the crank. Rich is going to try to get it down with emery cloth, he doesn't have a lathe. I could send it back but then it could come back a tad too small, it's difficult without having the crank there to gauge it.

After some major modification the bearing is now in. Rich had to completely remove the 'brim' of the hat as the splines butted up against it before the 'box was fully home. A consequence of being the first to try a 'theoretical' design l suppose. :hmm:
It's a tight fit so should stay in place.
What with the price of fabrication plus fettling to get it in, that was one expensive spigot bearing.

The drivetrain in situ. The propshaft is at quite an angle:

Another small inner sill repair needed plus a couple either side of the front screen:

Another quick update. Circumstances have meant a long delay in the Bruiser 2 project.
Circumstances have changed & hopefully things will be moving to a conclusion within the first half of the year.

Very impressed with all the work going in here, well beyond my ability.
Re the uprated ARB - mine was there when I got the car. The body is round, with the ends cut to hex that fits the clamps pretty well, with only a small gap .

Rolls Royce used to leave blocks outside to get a light coating of rust on the bores to retain oil in the minute pits on the bores once they were honed. Possibly, IIRC, maybe, about a hundred years ago........

I'd pull the head and sump, remove the pistons and then hone the block in-situ with a hone in a drill. Removing the engine is always a last resort for me.
