battery

I have got used to working on other cars fitted with battery isolator switches , and find them quite handy - quick to open, make the electrics safe to work on. This is especially true of the rear mounted P6 battery, which would require undoing the two knobs, pulling the cover, then undoing a terminal post connection. I got a flat copper weave cable about 6" long with a battery pole clamp on one end, flat with 10mm hole other end; cover it with shrink wrap; Fit to -ve pole, run out under the battery retaining frame, attach to one side of isolator. Another flat copper weave earth lead (also shrink wrapped), with a 10mm hole one end, 8mm (or so) the other end; attach the 10mm end to the other side of the isolator, run under the frame and bolt to the usual ground connection. The flat leads will allow the cover to be closed as usual with minimal effort. The isolator sits just to the rear of the battery case and takes up little space. I attached the leads of a trickle charger directly to the battery poles so it can be left connected even when the isolator is open.
Pic will follow.
