Hi everyone as anyone had to replace thier battery recently?as it looks like my 72 2000 needs one.As it has been such a long time since Ive had to buy one I wondered if anyone could tell me which type I need and approx price. thanks gary

Gary,
It looks as tho' I have a similar problem - My 1968 Three Thousand Five exhibits all the symptoms of a flat battery but the battery appears fully charged!
Checking my receipts tells me that this battery was bought in April 1999 (almost 5 years old) with a three year guarantee for £45.25.
Assuming that your battery fits in the boot, the physical size is important as the first one bought (last time) looked right but would not fit in the battery box!
Some part numbers for you - Unipart GBY 071 - Lucas 071 - Celtic 369/069 - B.I.G. 071 55031 - The last two may be local suppliers/manufacturers. Hope these help.
Let me know how you get on and I shall report back on my success, or otherwise!
Regards, John.

Thanks for that john I've made a note of the numbers,I did try halfords a few weeks ago they give me a price of £75.00 for the bog standard type! To be fair to halfords they got me my rear shockers the next day for £63.00 woodheads. They can get quite a lot of parts for our cars on the same day which surprised me as I tried every motor factors in my area with no luck.Handy to know for all members. thanks again gary

When I buy batteries, I always take the battery box with me, then just try batteries in it until I get the most powerfull one that fits....

Local auto-elecitrical factors will be cheapest I paid about £30 last time...

Richard :)
