Hi all,
Looking for New Battery for my 74P6 3500s mine is Toast looked on a couple of sites but no joy, any recommendations would be welcome
Thanks

Got mine from my local battery supply guy. No problem finding the right size. Im in NZ though.

You need an 078 battery which has the dimensions for the box and the positive terminal on the left, because of the cable entry in the cover. The last three batteries I've had for various cars have been Bosch S3 and S4, From Tayna batteries through Ebay.

Since battery codes differ from country to country non-UK recommendations are pretty useless. Book says
"Lucas RCAZ 11 /7 or Exide 6-XAZ 11 R or Exide 6-XAZ 13 R", 60Ah. Measure the old one, noting any codes on it. "positive on the left" means , looking at the long side with the terminals on the side closest to you, +ve on left. Grease the terminals lightly after wire brushing before connecting. Clean the connectors, especially the earth lead at both ends.
Bears repeating - for little used cars an annual inspection and cleaning of electrical connections will help to keep you proceeding. I use a local product Deoxit on spade type connectors and earths, which are frequently neglected.

would keep clean until terminals /wires fitted THEN apply vaseline over surfaces. grease /oil between terminal surfaces creates resistance .drops voltage etc
I use a Bosch battery .Installed approx 10 years ago -starting to need a recharge every 3 weeks these days ( low temps not helping ) so far as sealed its never needed replacing or attention. must have a peek one day and make a note rating .would def buy another though terminals on battery are wrongly handed so I don't screw cover on and battery only 'just' fits battery tray box.

As per Colnerov. Tayna batteries Bosch S3 and S4 perfect fit and good crank speed never had an issue.

Measure your top clamping frame. there are two slightly different sizes. Also if you have a plastic battery box they're also slightly smaller and need a correspondingly smaller battery. Try and get the most powerful battery that will fit.

The Bosch S4 025 is a perfect fit - even better than a similar fitting Lucas battery I once tried. See pic - very reasonable price quick delivery (for me always been good I have purchased 6-8 batteries for my cars and friends). It’s 60ah and 540a crank power which for my 3500S (which has very good compression readings) I find cranks it no bother! Has 4 year guarantee and 5 star reviews. I use a negative side cut off switch which also helps keep battery healthy - no car battery can handle deep discharge as we know. Its biggest battery that can fit in the Rover battery box and lid fits on as it should.

Hope this is helpful.

Dave
