Dunno. AFAIK no individuals were invited personally per se, the event was publicised well in advance. The NZ people I met came carless though.

Not to many early P6s ? Aiming to have mine tip top for the 18+ hr trip from Newcastle to Victor Harbor in 2019. 2.5 - 3 days either way Not much to see across the Hay Plain

Nice photos. Looks like a great turnout, and splendid weather. Lots of impeccably presented old Rovers. That pale metallic blue NADA 3500S is just perfect. All the wants, right there! Also the pale blue two door Rangie, very tasty indeed. Quite a few P6s sporting early SD1 alloy wheels. Where they sold down in Oz with those wheels fitted, or are they a popular retrofit?
Last year (IIRC) there was an absolutely huge auction of old Rovers and a ton of parts somewhere in Australia. Haven't heard anything since. I wonder if any of the cars pictured come from that collection?

Agree, and I was slightly disappointed (owning one of them) that when we did the parade in model order I would have liked the Series 1 cars to lead the P6s, and the first car was a Series 1 TC but after that we were all lumped in together, not that it really mattered.
You have an extra year to prepare, the Victor Harbour event is 23-26 October 2020, if you haven't done it before White Cliffs and the underground hotel is worth a stopover. We stayed there in 1990 (?) when it first opened.

Is that like the Jets going from last to .......1st?

The NADA was interesting -LHD- driven down from Queensland (about 1,500 the short way, or 2,500 the long) in two days. Paint on drivers door wasn't great but otherwise the car looked good. The factory A/C unit looks quite different to those which were fitted to the Series 2 cars locally.
AFAIK the SD1 wheels are retrofit (suspect that there was less interest in preserving those cars, the early ones had a terrible reputation for reliability).
The Rangie was superb but a few of us concluded that the light blue was not an original colour, would be keen to have an authoritative view.

Glenys Williamson the president of the RCCA and her husband were in a black P5 sedan that David bought at the Flynn auction in Canberra. We also spoke to some-one from NSW who had a superb late SD1 who had bought some P6 2000s in various stages of restoration at the auction and was bringing the best bits together to make an excellent car.

Just received the following from our RCCA Webmaster

"Just had some unfortunate news, the Queensland club member with the NADA P6B was driving home at night, and hit two kangaroos, rather damaging his car. An unfortunate ending to his trip."

Hopefully the driver was unscathed

Here's hoping the driver and any passengers escaped injury, and that the car can be restored to excellent health.

Indeed.

I make a point of never driving country roads at night, dawn or dusk. It is high risk. Have also had near misses with roos during daylight hours.
