Attaching S1 '2000' badge onto the boot.

Hi all,

When I purchased my car one of th '0's on the 2000 on the boot lid was missing (it was an Automatic 200).

Have located a new badge and removed the old one without damaging the boot lid

Noting you can not get access to the back of the skin in that area, whats the best way to reattach the badge?

Note also, I intend repainting her in a few years so don't want to over do it.

Hi Tony
I used a double-sided adhesive tape to put a 3.5 LITRE badge off a P5 on my boot lid, having had all the holes for the original badges filled before my car got a respray. It remains very firmly adhered to the boot lid after four years of often spirited driving! I reckon it'd pull the paint off if I tried to remove it. If your plan is to repaint the car a few years down the line, try some sticky tape! Just make sure you stick it in the right place, because using sticky tape with strong glue it isn't possible to reposition the badge if you get it wrong, once its on its on!

The S1 2000 bage is a crome one without a back. The S2 2000 badge looks more like yours. Double sided 3M tape would work a treat on a flat but unfortunately I'll need to rely on stickng the pins in their holes. Thanks for the reply all the same

The badge should have two pins on it. They fit into small plastic retainers you put in the boot lid. You can get them from the P6 suppliers, like Wadhams.

Thanks Vern, I like that answer (no need to glue ECT) I have to buy a few things (mainly a nylon auto gearstick bearing) from the mother country so I'll add them to the list.

hi there,
I have noticed that one of the boot badges is not level and want to remove it and reposition it.
Some say that using fishing line and see saw it behind will slice through the glue , but the car has had a nice 2 pac respray and I dont
want to damage the finish.
what is the best method of removing a stick on badge?
Peter
