Another set of Racer Wings

So been chipping away at these for a while, firstly templates of a set of original wings, then a set of moulds taken in the female off the templates, then a set of final wings taken off them.

I do, however, now that I have templates and moulds, habe the ability to make multiple sets.

Oh, its a huge amount of work, especially when looking to get the finished surface for painting. Did you end up using the steel wings as a base with eh flairs fitted?

Haven't done much of an update of this so here's some photos, or.. 'el photo-io' as they say in Spanishland.

The eagle eyes amongst you will, in fact notice, they are a genuine set of racer wings, from 806.

Ooerr you have been busy, I like the Jag Diff - what ratio are you running? LSD?

Are you offering the wings for sale?

Richard

Running a 2.88:1 Powerlok out of a Series 3(?) XJS. That'll be turned over be a Leyland McCormack F5000 donk

Wings, undecided. I'd happily make them for those serious about taking them racing. No such much form the twat thats taking it to the pub car park...

Same diff as mine, I was told it was an '85 XJS 2.88 powerlock. Bit of a monster motor that, I had to google it tbh :)

What is going on in image 0459, the big end of the upturned block? What exactly am I looking at? Why wouldn't you want to sell replica flared arches to chaps who aren't going to take their P6 racing, but have always wanted to pose in the pub car park with a wide body P6 !?!? Pretty please !?!?

@mrtask long ago, before the days of the cross bolting, this 4 bolt main cap arrangement was the way of bracing up the mains. This will, in turn, be girdled also to stiffen up the rear end.

I suppose if I charge enough I could make a comfortable living off wide boided arches and pub car park goers?

@quattro, it's quite an interesting motor that one, a long road to develop them successfully also. Seems to have been around about the same time that 806 came over here to race.

What remains of 806 is currently up for sale, it was altered enormously to run in sports sedans and was quite successful in south Australia I'm told. currently needs a new engine and a lot of cleaning up.

and what remains of it isn't a huge amount, unfortunately.

Not enough to actually get a V5, or even use in UK motorsport events.

While it is beyond me at the moment and there is still a bit of part chasing to be done, mostly the engine, there is certainly enough there to build a decent racer. Significant work has been done, it is more than just a box of parts, although many are replacement parts....

That Leyland McCormack engine would have started life as a 4.4 litre block from the P76. If you look reeeally carefully you can see the extra height in the cylinder block. It is most obvious from the end views which are n't there...
