Today I helped my friend Ted pick up his new (to him) 2000TC from the Newark Docks. The car has only done 29,000miles and the engine, suspension and interior certainly show that. There’s some rust along the door bottom on the RHS rear but it seems pretty solid on the whole.

Certainly has had some rot issues in the past. I'd check it over very carefully.
Agreed, from looking under the rear seats, checked the bottom of the D pillars in the door shuts, boot floor and looked under the body. Looked fairly intact.

MoT history suggests issues around the springs, both front and rear.

When I asked about this car a while back no one seemed to know about it. How did you get access to the MOT history Chris?

Use a search engine for the gov.uk 'check mot history' site (sorry, can't post a link). You just need the regn number, records are there for 2006 onwards.

Thanks Tony. Not lived in the UK since the late 90’s so was unawares. I’ll check it out and talk to the owner.

Looking at the test history and the timing of fails followed by passes I’m guessing it’s been repaired. The car is 2 1/2 hours north of me so I’ll not get a chance to check it out until the snow has melted back more (another snow storm rolled through). But @tonys thanks for the info.
