Is that Snetterton 300? I used to race at the original Snetterton back in the day, and have been itching to have a spin round the 300 version, but on 2 wheels not 4. I know someone who arranges trackdays for cars, and he said I could have a thrash arond with the track all to myself but it hasn't quite happened yet. Is there still an A&E at Norwich hospital? Come to that, is there a Norwich hospital?...

I do not have confirmation of the course, but I am 99% certain it will be the 300. Nch has A&E. Marshalls and paramedics are on site.
They wont allow bikes on this one I'm afraid.

It will be a really super event. FORC usually combine forces with Javelin track days. All stuff Javelin do is super safe and top notch.

Sounds good.

Sounds even better.

paramedics are on site.

Almost perfect then.

Oh dear, and it was going so well up till that point.

In fairness to myself, I never actually crashed at Snetterton, although I did have several rather exciting off-track excursions...

Brands Hatch was an altogether different matter though....

Do I have to have a helmet? Would there be an experienced driver who could take me round as a passenger a few times first and show me the ropes? I suppose I'll need to read the small print of my motor insurance policy to see if this sort of fun is covered. Also, if I blew something up, would the AA recover me the 100 miles back home from a 'Track Evening'? I've never been round a racetrack at the wheel, only ever as a passenger in other people's cars. I've been meaning to make it happen, perhaps this is the opportunity...

Yes you need a helmet, hire is normally available at the circuit, but not this time, neither is instruction. I have a spare helmet I could lend for the night. I cannot give you a ride as social distancing means only people from the same household can be together in a car.
You probably wont have track day cover, it can be bought from specialist insurers.
I don't see a problem being recovered by the AA from the paddock in the event of a breakdown, they wont recover a car damaged on circuit.
With lockdown and an evening event you have the unique opportunity to make a relaxing day of it.
You would need to join FORC before hand.

Here is all I have in my email.

The entry fee will be £89 per car/driver. Additional drivers £30 but see below.
The following conditions will be in force in order to conform with government guidelines for social distancing and hygiene:
* On line check-in
* Video drivers briefing
* Driver plus one co-habitating passenger only
* No spectating friends and family
* Takeaway food service only
* No in car instruction
* No helmet hire
* Hand sanitizer will be widely available
Please don't let any of the above put you off - there is already great demand for circuit time; this will almost certainly be our only opportunity for a track evening this year.

To express your interest in whether you intend to enter just reply to this email ASAP.

Stay safe from the FORC team

If not this time I can highly recommend Javelin track days
Upcoming Events
But a Javelin day would be more 'hectic'

Grab one of TRM's fleet, he won't mind.
Or even bring your own :eek:

Thanks for clarifying that, and for sharing the proposed event on here. I reckon I'd probably just be in the way of everybody else if I didn't get shown the ropes first, so it might be wiser to just enjoy your write up of the experience, and wait until an opportunity presents itself that includes some instruction. I'll err on the side of caution.
As a guest of friend I went to a Porsche Club event in Schleiz, where I watched a cocky dude completely wreck his brand new 997 GT2 widebody after attempting to take the first corner twice as fast as was physically possible. It took quite a while to recover the car, clean the track and repair the fence, and the other participants weren't delighted at having to wait. I wouldn't want to be the buffoon who spoils the fun.

You have to be comfortable in all aspects. I just bimble round keeping out of everybody's way. I can do this as the club is made up of gentlemen who respect each other and as long as you are not a complete cock everyone has fun.
It's a shame that the virus has limited the options, normally there would be instruction and demo laps available to ease you in.

I will remember you for the next FORC session and give you a heads up.

I wouldn't mind taking Bruiser around but a certain amount of recommissioning is in order first which Harvey will certainly be participating in. So l guess a track session won't be on the cards for a while unless co-habitating includes workshop buddies who never whinge & moan.
