Air Filter element upgrade

I have been playing with the induction on the 4.6 and as well as tickling the 2" HS8 SU's have also been thinking about filters.
I was looking at K&N filters to fit inside the stock airbox, but at 70 quid a pop thought again.

So I bought a pair of these

They are the same diameter as the original, but over twice as long. By cutting the raised sealing sponge off both ends they clear the central inlet hole.
I ran an M6 tap through the existing threaded holes for the retaining screw and used some M6 studding about 4 1/2" long and a nut to secure them.

I will also make a nice bellmouth for the airbox inlet which will get cold air from the bonnet scoop.

Idle has improved and the engine feels nice and snappy.

Down here in Oz this is the element (2 off) called up as equivalent to GFE1032. It should fit without mods I hope. Ryco A1705.

Yes, 4-1/2" 1/4-20 bolt works fine, although finding the hole in one end of the case be a struggle. And I dont care that they are visible through the inlet pipe! At least I might notice if they get discoloured.

I have my modified airbox for sale with new filters and large intake as above, bolt on upgrade to make any P6 breathe easier.

£40 + shipping.
