After 20 years a P6 again finally a V8 automatic. With work that is.....

Looking very good Pepijn! Did you ask here for the Rostyles? I have a spare set I'd like to sell... But anyway, you have them now so you're sorted.

Today received the airducts and airfilter from the neighbour (he is a carpainter). And had some gaskets ordered.
Put the bits together:

slowly it is coming together! Still waiting on my brakes. Mark Gray got mine more than two weeks ago but still no sign of the new resleeved ones.... Is it normal that it takes that long?

I a also trying to restore the bootlid badge. It had faded and I already bought a new insert for it but the colours look slightly off.... No problem but I would really like to try the restore the origanl one. Does anybody know the colour codes of the colours used in the badge??

There were silver boats on early cars then they were all gold. When they were reproduced years ago both types were made, although the gold ship is much more common. I have been after a new insert where did you find this one? If you restore your original and don’t use the new I would be interested in buying.

I wish my neighbour was a professional car painter! Colour the cylinder numbers and the firing order in a contrast colour with a fine brush before you fit it all back on the engine. Thank me later.

i am looking for one of these badges where did you get from?

nikkicurd,
I bought the insert on ebay. I paid silly money though. I paid like a 100 dollars incl shipping. Really expensive! But better that than not for sale. I am not ready to sell yet. I have a few badges also for the bonnet. When the car is resprayed the new badges will find their way on to the car.

Finally started dismanteling the injection part.

also fitted a new jetassembly

That is a fiddly job!!

Especially to remain the metallic sound when the piston lowers again. That took a while but at the end I succeeded.....

The start is there
The inlet manifold is in place.

I had a hurdle that was the fact that the connection to the heater on the manifold was way bigger than de diameter of the hose. I swtitched the hose connection for the one on the efi unit which was a smaller one.

My inletmanifold is of 1969 probably... Would it be a problem to have the smaller heater connection fitted?

Last weekend I stumbled across somenone who had sold his rover but had a few good parts left He had four good doors, a bice bonnet a really nice steering wheel and two rocker covers. I was happy to help him get rid of these parts.
To day I started with sandblasting the rocker covers:

and the steering wheel:

Very nice! Steering wheel looks great. They were on marktplaats, weren't they?

Can't help you with your question regarding the inlet manifold though...

No, as long as you get the hose connections fitted correctly. I think the later engines got the bigget fitting, and bigger ended hose to match it, so that mixing up the connections was more difficult. Bottom on engine to top on heater, top on engine to bottom on heater.

Yess they were on Marktplaats. took the doors bonnet and the steeringwheel and the rockercovers. Those covers were not listed om marktplaats but he had them lying around.
Doors are already stripped and I am going to use three of them. One of my doors is already in very good shape. That is the one that replaced the damaged one that was on it when I bought it.

Tomorrow the rocker covers are being sprayed. I will paint them grey and than clear the lines with a sander.

Thank you Harvey. The bigger one was actually on the older manifold and the smaller on the newer one of the efi. I saw in the parts manual that the hose to the manifold was quite thin except for the and to accept the bigger fitting. So I thopught the bigger fitting has no advantage since the hose is the smaller diameter anyway.

So it has been a little time but work is still done on the Rover.Things are a bit delayed since I have another love that needs attention:

The volvo was in storage for 4 years and i took it outr because I want to drive her together with the Rover. But after 4 years brakes failed and lots of little things have to be sorted.
Back to the Rover.
Changing the EFI to carbs and adding nice rocker covers the nice engine looked ourt of oplace in the ugly engine bay. So I decided to tidy that up a little. But of course fount some rust especially on the rightside of the car where the "hockey stick had gone. Here in the netherlands these are not readily available so we made our own:
