After 20 years a P6 again finally a V8 automatic. With work that is.....

Changed the left frontdoorframe for another. The doorframe when I got the car was somehow repaierd after the little window hinge broke I guess.

Looked like this:

the front brakeband en the clutch are totally gone it had slipped quite a bit and the clutch parts were blue so they have been red hot ........... The line of the brakeband was totally worn!

Harvey, the man who rebuild my bw65 says that the rigid band for the reverse is supposed to be placed in a bw65 the bw35 has probably two flexible bands but the bw65 does not. So may be you meant that in a bw35 the bands could be wrong?

I would have to disagree with your man. BW65/66 have 2 flexible bands, BW35 in the case of Rover have solid bands front and rear except for the 303 which has a flexible front, but if you have a self adjusting front servo you can fit a flexible band to the front if you want to.

OK I am not the expert here. When I look at pictures on the internet with rebuild kits for the bw65 I see two bands one flexible and one rigid...

and if i am not mistaken it looks they all have a rigid band and a flexible band...

I can only tell you what I've learnt over the years. Others have their own opinions, and you're at liberty to choose to believe whatever you want to.

Hmmmm, after actually looking in the parts book, it looks like your man was right and I wasn't. I think this could be a start of a slippery slope....

If its any consolation I am already sliding on the same slope, am younger than you, and am finding it tiresome and worrying.

More and more I'm finding everyone is younger than me.... My memory is now a forgettory. Learning new things just makes me forget more of the old stuff. I don't like it much either.
