Does anyone ever visit the Ace Cafe for meets etc?

I fancy taking the car and myself for our first ever visit but was wondering if anyone else ever goes down there for any of the classic car meets at all?

yes Robin. I'll meet you and others there for the classic night, second Tuesday each month. Get there early it gets packed. Ace Cafe website will list which nights

I'm looking into moving to London in the near future and would be well up for that.
If I'm still able to keep the P6!

Don't worry! We're still allowed P6's here at the moment. Though who knows what Livingston will try to get through next before he's voted out. :;):

like it TRM :) We'll all have to LPG our motors to bypass Ken's congestion charge expansion plans. Best meet at Ace Cafe before A406 North gets into charge zone....

Sorry, just peeked on site since last post, and no Classic Tuesday listed since August. Well, shall we just pick day and turn up on a clear date?

I like the sound of that! :) We have only got a few good days left of this year so we will have to do it soon. It would be good to get as many members as possible over to the ace. When was you thinking of going?

stop press! Classic Cars mag Nov issue has small article, mentioning October 11 and November 8....

So, tomorrow night, who can make it? Say after 6:30 pm? Today it's supposed to be 21deg in London, tomorrow just as sunny. Yes, might be our last chance?

cheers,

Jason

Damn, damn and damn!, can't make that. It might be an idea to get the 'S' road legal first anyways!
Maybe next time. :(

I might be there in my Vito van :D so if you see a white Vito with a fridge unit and a long haired Looney driving it come say hello, I have taken my 2000sc down on the 1st Wednesday a couple of times (Hot Rod night) and I have spotted some p6's floating around on those nights as well.
As for the Ace, I used to be very regular there a few years ago (before and during the rebuild) but due to other commitments don't get there as much as I would like anymore, Mark who owns it is a very nice bloke and very approachable, Loves his classics (cars) as well as his huge love of bikes, and has just been given an award for his promotion of classic cars, there is either a car night or bike night every day of the month there (if he has an empty night he may even accept a Rover night:) )
Oh and they do food, coffee, tea and have a fully licensed bar as well :D

I'm hoping to take my '67 Pontiac down tomorrow, mainly as I've got an American friend over who's looking forwards to a ride in it (he's already been in the Rover as it's my daily). It'll be good to show him some great British classics.

If I see any P6 drivers though, I'll come and say hello. Hope to see some of you there.

John

Aaaarrrggghhh!!! I sooooo wanted to go put she's just failed the dreaded MOT! Nothing serious but need to get various bushes etc. Anyone changed the steering idler before?

Most unhappy, although might try and get down there in the regular wheels if I can. At least I'll use less fuel...

word of warning to anyone going to the ace, DON'T PARK IN THE TYLE CENTER CAR PARK!!!! they have clampers in there who don't give a flying wotnot about your car, they damaged a friends car and when we complained they towed it and said he couldn't have it back until there insurance company had had a look at it, Oh and they would charge for storage. they are a total cowboy outfit who rather than listern to reason start to chuck their weight around,so best stay clear.

2 p6's there but not knowing what people looked like didn't meet the drivers, did bump into John and his Pontiac (very nice) Hope your friend from the states enjoyed the real english car night experiance compleat with rain :D

well I was there fellas you must have seen me next to the windows - between the pair of Mk2 Jags and that Rolls Cloud Coupe (hey I left mobile number on dash for you...)

Saw the red '67 looked smart and got some shots (always my fave shape that one).

Weather turned at 9pm so I was off to IKEA (sorry, the missus insisted), maybe next time.

Highlight for me was the race-ready D-type Jaguar turning up with open exhaust, and of course those tidy Mustangs. P5 nice too.

Hello Paprika, saw your car last night, nice spot by the MK II and S-Type. Please accept my heartfelt commiseration at having to go to Ikea. I usually find sulking gets me through the experience.

Don't know who the blue P6 belongs to though. Agree the D-Type was a beauty, as was the P5B (my Dad used to have one until a 17 yr. old pulled out of a side road, tapped his rear quarter and sent him into a tree). I always have a soft spot for Mk I facelift capris too.

My American chum thought it was an excellent night/venue and was raving about it this morning at work.

I had a word with the marshals last night about the clampers, and they said they hadn't been seen for a while. Maybe something to do with the law changing about clampers needing to be licensed now. Still worth keeping an eye open though.

Dam it I missed the mobile no, saw the car though, very nice, maybe one day soon mine will look that good :D if anyone saw it at uxbridge show they know how much work I have left to do, but still enjoying it :D

Ace Cafe gets a regular mention in Classic Ford magazine for the monthly Ford night
Can we expect some P6's doing do-nuts in the car park ?
