I used Minstrel to go to work yesterday for the first time. I only work 6 miles from home so didn't travel far. Had no trouble at all on the way to work apart from slight misfiring. I need to tune the carb better. I think Minstrel is running a bit weak. However, different story on the way home. Car kept slipping out of 4th gear. I am wondering if the gate is worn. The gear stick is very sloppy. Actually reminds me of the old Ford Pudding Bowl Gearstick! Also, the dash lights blew a fuse which I changed this morning, the headlights need sorting out. On full beam they look more like they're on dip and visa versa. I did put new headlights in earlier this year but have not used the car at night to notice whether they are lined up right. So another little job to sort out. I did notice this morning that the fuse box had melted slightly where the light fuse was. Possibly fuse overheated before it blew? It was a 5amp fuse that blew which I though was low. I put in a 10 amp and it blew as soon as I put the lights on. I tried a 12 amp and that seems to be okay. Not going to use Minstrel until I get the lights sorted out. Not fair on oncoming drivers to get dazzled by my badly aligned lights....some of us do care. Lol. Can anyone give me any ideas re the gear slippage, please? Many thanks in advance guys.
