I don't know if this section is meant for cars currently owned? However, the only other 'classic' I've owned is a 1974 Mk3 Cortina which I really miss :(

As bought:

In primer, with 'blackboard' paint (yes, really!) 'stripe':

Matt blacked, my favourite look! :D :

Love the Matt rat look myself mate---Nicest Cortina I have seen -----Only I would have silver or chrome wheels on her---But hey still good 8) 8) 8)

I still regret not buying a N Reg Cortina 2000GT , white with a red stripe , back in 1977
I got a 2000XL a while later but it wasn't a good one

That's nice Will I love a ford or two (hundred) myself

Cheers fellas! I originally wanted an 'FD' Vauxhall victor but the car I was going to look at sold before I got the chance. The Mk3 Cortina was second on my list as I was looking for a car with that distinctive "coke bottle" shape. I won the car above ^ on ebay and me and my Dad drove it back to Newcastle from Crewe. My Dad hated that as he never liked Mk3s!

Symes, the black alloys were already on when I bought her. I had some original silver painted steelies to go on, but never got around to it before the car went the journey :( p.s your P6 is a bit of a looker too! 8)

I am a big fan of the 70's coke bottle stuff. My brother had a VX4/90 which ran now and again, never really got it going properly. Apparently the 2.3L slant four, was supposed to be a V8, but Vauxhall in the infinite wisdom, decided that the British public would never go for a V8, so they built the engine with only one bank. This was the story at the time, don't know how true that is.

Found this pic on another forum, would definitely have one of these if I ever get the space, opportunity 8)

Love that rear haunch, and the grill too - very similar to what the P6 may have looked like; I have seen a similar looking grill on one of the P6 prototypes.

I'm afraid I only do Cortinas in even numbers, Mk2 1600E, and Mk4 1600 Kent.

Mk4 1600 was a Pinto engine, not a Kent. Harvey, were you not an Essex boy in the 70's?

Not the one I had, 1600 Kent. I've seen enough to know what I was looking at.

I was an Essex boy in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, & 10's thanks....

I think that to avoid offending your sensibilities I'd better keep quiet about the Escort Mk2 1600GT van and the Mk3 Cortina V6 auto pickup then......

I would still love one of them! Got too much on my plate with the P6 though  . I've seen that prototype P6 photo on the ARonline site. I like it a lot! :D 8)

Yep. There was a real fashion for slant fours that were half a V8. Triumph made both (Dolomite/Stag), as did Lotus. Rover's got cancelled by BL... The Vauxhall V8 was meant for the new Cresta/Velox but that got canned as they started to merge into Opel.

No offence intended Harvey .I thought you were anti -Fords
Mk 3 Cortina V6 auto pickup sounds good , did you build it yourself
I remember following a Mk 1 Escort Van fitted with a V6 along a perfectly straight road when it suddenly rolled

No offence taken. I'm not anti-Fords, it's just Rovers sort of took over. I've always hankered after a Mk3 Zody (with a Rover V8), and a Mk1 Granada, and a Consul Capri, and probably a few more I can't recall......

In all I think I've owned a dozen Fords of one sort or another.

It's exactly as it came out of the Ford factory. (Apart from the addition of a visor).

Mine was a Mk2 Van, one owner from new, that I put a Capri 1600GT engine and box into. Great for putting the wind up VW GTi owners, and carting about tools and parts about, as well as the motorbike I was racing at the time.

My first car was a MkV Cortina estate 1.6L. I also had a Ford Orion MkI(?) 1.6 diesel an Escort MkIV 3 door estate 1.8 diesel. Apart from nice gearboxes, I thought these were all horrible cars.

I did very briefly own an Escort Mk2 RS2100 but at the time didn't have the time/money/space/skills to do the necessary work to get it MOT'd. Wish I had though, as it would have been work a few quid now. Could have used it to fund a few nice P6s  .
