Hi,
I was offered a motor from a RR 4.2 LSI. Asked the guy about the motor no., he could not find  but gave me HRC2411 as motor number. When I look into RR forums, I can see Ron also there :D stating this should be 4.0 or 4.6.
Is HRC 2411 crossbolt only ? Will try to get a photo from the block sideways and will ask the guy again to look for the motor number again. Is this also on the lh side (rear, near head) like on the 3.5 ?

Edit2: HRC2411 is the block casting number and indicates it's pre '96. From here-

Hi Colin,

HRC2411 were the cast numbers for the 4.0 and 4.6 litre blocks right up until 2004.

These blocks are easily recognisable by the cross bolts, assuming the main bearing caps are in situ.

Ron.

Not easy to get correct informations from guys selling motors.
This guy now decided not to believe, that it´s a 4.0/4.6.
The one before offered a "original" Vitesse engine from a crashed car, the photo showed SU carbs....

My 3.9 block is a HRC2411 casting, dated 02 94. It has the external bosses for cross bolts, BUT the main cap registers are NOT correct for cross bolted caps - they have a small register (< 3/8")for the cap, and then above that its round faced with a drilled/tapped thread in the top (ie vertical). The cross bolted blocks must(should?) be a different casting. I have seen LCF000250 mentioned from 98 on.

Correction - on closer inspection the sides of the main cap areas are flat and vertical, so could take cross bolted caps. The current caps only have shallow registers at their base.
