3500s Project 4.6 rpi

Yes and no, it is a 2000 base unit and it hase been modified to take the v8 but we didn't do it, i think it was done in around 91 when it had a rebuild a 200bhp tweeked 3.5 put in it.

Vwey little modding required, Demetris. All the V8 prototypes used 2000 base units and there are a significant number of conversions around in the UK. It's unclear to me why Rover did depart from the 2000 base unit. Sure things are very cosy in the engine bay and there's very little space for the servo etc, but it works. I have a suspicion the real reason for the revised base unit may have been ease of assembly on the line - the wider chassis rail spacing may have been just enough to allow the engine to enter from below.

Hi Chris,

i had in mind Simon's car where the modifications were quite extended. Maybe because he wanted the engine to sit as far back as possible?

oh and also the bottom suspension arms catch the block of the v8 so on ours the block has been ground to prevent this.

He washed the old 3.5 today so it looks pretty

from tca to tca the rad 2000 shell is 45cm and the brown 3500s is 53cm i think so thats why the block and tca mounts need grinding back a bit.

That's interesting, it's quite a difference 4 cm each side.
