Hello...

I thought i would post some pics of my new car.
I don't know if anyone recognises this car. I bought it from a dealer in south wales for £2000. The only reason why i am worried is that it was for sale for a long time. I must have missed whats wrong with it whan i was looking!

Don't worry, be happy (which should be easy now you've got a P6!) She looks good, especially with the fog lights...

Thanks....

I have managed now to put 500 miles on it in the last few days. Which has thrown up a few little problems :D

1) The speedo reads 10mph slow
2) Petrol gauge reads 1/4 of a tank whan empty
3) The car vibrates from the rear end 45mph and above (slowly getting worse!)

This car is fantastic! Even with its little faults.

As a total P6 beginner i would apreciate any help with the above faults. Every time i am behind the wheel it puts a big smile on my face.

The speedo fault could be the speedo head at fault, an incorrect driven gear fitted in the gearbox, or the rear gearbox flange loose.
The fuel gauge is probably the tank unit.
I would look at the rear tyres first with regard to the vibration.

Just a few guesses to get you started. :D

Thank for the reply......

I am getting slightly more worried about the vibration from the rear. It seams to be getting a lot worse :(

I have checked the tyres all are at the correct pressure and look new. So I swapped them to the front and there was no difference.

Any other Hints?? :;):

You could try jacking up each side at the rear in turn supporting it on stands and driving the rear wheels individually to try and work out which side is causing the problem. after this it's a matter of checking the propshaft and driveshaft U/J's, diff mountings, rear wheel bearings, exhaust etc. to try and find anything faulty, if so replace and try again. Vibrations and noises can be difficult to pin down with the car in front of you so over cyberspace it's even more so. More info about the speeds it occurs at and when it's at its worst might help a bit more with a diagnosis.

I used to get a bad vibration from the rear, it was very noticable when I backed off the gas.

Problem was one of the rear discs was slightly warpped.

Best thing is to jack it up and have a good play around.

If the car's been standing it could be a stiff UJ which might free off .My 3500S used to vibrate at 40 mph but it gradually got better
