2200TC Moon Dust

People do that at shows, I had an eejit telling me my Standard Vanguard Ph2 was built by Rover because his deceased Dad had one, and told him so. I had to walk away from my car and leave him to his detailed photo taking so I wouldn't get arrested for giving him a good slap. (I could hazard a guess as to the possible demise of his Dad)

An ex cop giving someone a good slap, surely not :D

Mick, when I joined I discovered that someone in stores had left a pocketful of "cauliflower ears, for the distribution of" in my coat, still had some left when I retired.....

Similar to the bloke who was looking at my 2000 a couple of years ago and said it was a very nice car but why did I spoil it by putting a Mango interior in an early car....?

It's the original London B*oody Tan mate!

"Moon Dust".... Let's examine the clues available.

Moon, Could we suggest that the car has interstellar/Lunar mileage?

Dust, refers to the coating of overspray over the entire car due to being in close proximity to the modern cars in a backstreet midlands bodyshop.

^^^^^^
At Woodvale last year I had a bloke come up to me lecturing (sorry, 'tellling' ) me about how the P6 was production ready in 1956, and that the 4-cylinder engine was a cut'n'shut P4 block with a different head and 'a pile of crap, mate'.

Aside from the fact that the particular 'pile of crap' that we were standing in front of at the time was my own (admittedly patchy) 2000TC, I had decided fairly early on in the conversation that the gentleman was rather mistaken on some aspects of the subject matter. However, I decided not to push through with any corrections, as:
1) It clearly wasn't worth it, and
2) Had it been worth it, submissions were not accepted owing in large part to this particular gentleman's excellent operatic breathing technique that made it distinctly impossible to get more than 3 words in between sentences.

I overtook a P4 on the bypass on the way home. Small minded, I know, but vindication is better than tribute....

:D

Oh yes, they certainly do seem to be on 'Transmit' and not 'Receive'. I have had some amazing things told to me about my own car which included the "FACT" that all the body panels are aluminium. They will just not back down when you tell them the truth either.

I must make a note of all the stories I am told this year and put them on this thread.

@quattro

I often think that underneath all of the self-assured wannabee aficionado swagger beats the oxen-strong heart of the Green-eyed monster...... because every time you ask them what THEY drive, the answer is invariably "Daewoo Matiz".

Just an observation

Some of these guy's relatives must have migrated to the U.S. Have had a lot of people ask "Rover.....Who makes that.....? " along with several telling me that they were made by Leyland.....Although technicaly that's true, when my '68 was built they hadn't really moved in yet.

Now that's a conversation I have had... except for the Leyland part.

Them: "Rover, who makes that?" ...; me: "erm... Rover"; them "I KNOW that, but who makes it?"; me: "um... still Rover..."

Or - "oh, you mean LAND Rover"... oh never mind...
