I am in the laborious process of respraying my 2200 which was half cameron green and half arden green,
my chosen colour is black gloss ,just because it will be easy to touch up . my query is ....should I gold leaf the now chrome side strips, and maybe a gold pinstripe here and there or am I being as daft as a box of frogs ,,, plus has anyone changed the front grill on a mk2 for the modern mesh. for the pedants and purists among you i have the number of a good phyciatrist.

I reckon the side trims would look far too 'bling' if you applied gold leaf to them! I would suggest you do a really good quality paint job, clean up all the brightwork and put it back on, and see what it looks like. If at that point you still desire gold accents, try a stick-on gold pinstripe just above, or just below the stainless trims. If you don't like the look, you can just peel it off again, and you won't have wasted a lot of time and expense.

Black is the most difficult colour to make it look right. Less than perfect preparation underneath, and the top coat will look easily rubbish. So be prepared, black is the less forgiving colour.
