Hi I have just had the old girl out and have noticed the ignition switch barrel has lost its spring when you turn it to start the engine, so the starter appears to be engaged all the time until you manually turn it back, Does anyone know if i can fix this by changing the barrel, and if i can how do you remove the actual key barrel. Thanks.

Mine was too far gone for repair so bought complete lock from ebay and removed electrical part from base of switch. I had to drop steering column slightly to get lock in and out but not too difficult to do. I think Mark Gray and wins do replacements also.

You don't need to change barrel just electrical part at the base. Held on by 2 small Philips screws. Remove lock from dash for better access. It has shear bolts holding it to steering column remove these and the locking ring from dash. Drop steering column bracket remove lock assembly inside glovebox. PS some have 4 wires some have 6.
