1972 P6B tax exempt

I'm looking to get rid of one of my P6Bs. The car is a '72 build, tax exempt car that I purchased last August/Sept and drove down from Edinburgh.

Mechanically, it appears fine although could do with an oil change and a good run. I've replaced the rad hoses as they needed doing. The car has a NADA bonnet, NADA grille (with blacked out faces), Icelert including dash switches (but not wired in), and has standard UK-spec bumpers, although could be persuaded to part with a pair of NADA bumpers if the price is right.

Front seats have split along the seams a little, but a spare set of leather covers are included. It has front ET headrests, but they are missing the adjustment knobs on the side.

Needs some work - a good respray would be suggested.

Currently has Rostyles on, but they'll be coming off, so will have a set of steel wheels which will need new tyres. I also have a set of Denovos if anyone is interested.

It is a good project car, currently taxed and MoT'd until mid year, and has some history included, along with previous MoT certs. Just need the space at the moment, and have too many cars.

Offers invited.

Took a few pics this afternoon.. little bit of rust on the D-posts as can be seen, but hasn't gone all the way through, and should be fine without too much work.

The Rostyles don't come with the car, but can supply a set of steels which will need new tyres, or a set of Denovos with trims.

She's not a bad car, and is still taxed and MoT'd. There is no reason why she wouldn't pass another one. I also have a pair of NADA bumpers which may go with the car, otherwise I have a standard front bumper with a badge bar to fit, and the rear is still fitted.

No power steering, but I believe that I have the parts to provide that.

If anyone interested, PM me and I'll give you a call.. I'm not after a lot for her, just really need the space right now.

That was quick !, forum member ?

Forum lurker.. I also posted it on the SD1 Club forum as I used to have a couple of SD1s as well..

Should be picked up the last weekend of the month :)

Haha..i suppose Id better hold my hand up now then...It was me! Ive been a member for a while now...since buying my first P6 at 14 in fact. Pictures of the first one can be found in the sad and sorry section under "speedys project 3500"

Ive had another since that first car, bought from Ian Wilson....but that was passed onto a friend when i bought my everyday car, a 2.6 SD1. Ive always wanted another though...being my first car i have a huge soft spot for the old P6..I really cant wait to get this one back and start using an enjoying her!

I guess i might be on her a little more regular now...will have plenty of questions and photos!

Phil

As far as Im aware yes! I'll be keeping the NADA parts its had so far, but keeping standard bumpers!

Not yet...I bought it on the strengh of the pictures and Chris's description and a phone call! First Job will be a full Service and Fluid change, and a full tune up. Then a full set of tyres and It'll be pressed into service as the everyday car while slowly improving it and taking it to as many shows as possible!

Should be entertaining! :D

Brave to buy something unseen based on descriptions. But you can always walk away. I have travelled all day to look at cars "described" over the phone and walked. Good luck with it.

Thanks! Im sure It'll be Ok..If it starts runs and drives, and has MOT and tax, it meets all the requirements i want it for! I just want to be able to use my favorite ever car...while restoring it!

Ive owned 2 now, not including this one, but Ive never driven one on the road...thats going to change! :D

Hi phil,
that was a good solid car you had from me, do the new owners have it on the road yet :!:

It will be nice to see you actually driving a p6 as like you said you never have and i bet you can't wait :?:

Have a drive over to see me some time in it

I've been driving them since I was 17 and got my first 2000SC as a birthday present. They really are great cars to drive :) Once I've got my XJ6 on the road, I'll be looking at doing some work on the NADA car that I have left..

Hi Ian! As far as Im aware they have sent all the panels to be sprayed at a local bodyshop, and bought plenty more parts to fit once its ready. I think they are having some problems with the Auto box which is holding them up a bit, but It'll get there. It was a lovely old car...Its what made me want another i could use!

I'll definately be over to see you in it...I'll need to buy my parts from somewhere! :D

The SD1 is defiantely staying...it was my Everyday car last year and Ive always liked them! Ive rebuilt/uprated all the suspension, fitted new wheels and tyres, rebuilt the engine...and Im currently fiting 2 new front wings. When its done I'll use them back to back, as i dont wanna get rid of either!
