1970 estoura

last on start of november, pehaps just gave it a rest during the winter months as he had no garage.

sorry for the delay in posting an update
all welding is complete now, and i have been concentrating on the body work
one panel at a time, have cut out plenty of rust but have also welded in lots of
new metal, a skim of filler rub down repeat you know the drill, a decent coat inside
and out of primer filler rub down, three coats of normal primer rub down,
four top coats left for a week then wet sand and then compound with g3
and a final polish. this has been done on each and every panel. i will show
finished pics when i remember to bring camera home,
there are no during pics as i dropped camera down toilet and killed the memory card.

I have also been having quite a bit of fun with the wiring, when the car arrived
absolutley nothing worked, there was just basically a mess of wiring under the dash
with old fuse boxes new relays all connected with two different colour wires thats it blue and grey
no colours with traces nothing, so have patiently chasing each wire through the car finding out
where each one goes or in some cases supposed to go, the factory rover manual has been
invaluable to me during this stage, but i'm getting there,

new carpets have been obtained but as yet not fitted, the same goes for the new vinyl roof,
this is a job i am not looking forward to one bit, the last one i fitted was in the 1980's and that
was a ready to fit item,
i have found a company local to me who will fit a new headlining in once the rest of the car is complete.

The brake calipers have all been refurbished, brake discs have been skimmed by local engineering shop
for £20 for the four which i thought was a bargain, all new pads and fiffing kits have also been fitted,
along with new copper brake pipes all round and new flexible brake hoses, i am awaiting a servo and master
cylinder repair kits to finish the braking system off.

The engine has had a full service and continues to run sweetly, the auto box has had a fluid change and selects
all gears albeit with the rear wheels off the ground, the diff has also had a fluid change.

So as you can see i have been busy with the project, even had a purpose made frame and cover made to
store and work on her in, has been a godsend over winter.

i will endevour to post pictures next week so you can see the jump in progress that i have made

So he never finished it.. there's certainly something wrong with the hatch. It doesn't fit properly.

Hopefully that will be reflected in the sale price, but I see that the reserve is not yet met.

The car looks to be a nice start point for a full restoration but given how easily these Estoura's rot out I guess its probably a nightmare under the paint.

so who's got it now? what a project:D

I notice that inside the car its got the strip speedo and somehow there's a tacho there, which i could understand with a TC

..... just realised its a V8 !! fair enough then!
