1967 TC

Asking $6,250 for it is beyond optimistic. These are relatively unknown cars here in the States. People forget that although they’ll be rust free from a dry state, the interior and all rubber parts will be cooked to death by the heat. And this one looks that way.

That's $3k+ of interior work for starters. If it was cheap it would be an attractive UK proposition.
 
I rather like it! My car was from Los Angeles and looked worse when I got it but rust free examples are unobtanium in the UK! and welding bodywork if you can't do it yourself costs thousands to do properly. Interiors are easy to sort out too. A set of Magstars into the bargain too., What is not to like!!!! Is that an early Rover fit rev counter in the TC?

Even the rear blue panels are original I believe! And the Blaupunkt radio looks original too (and worth a small fortune in itself!) My car was like this when I got it. I love the originality of it Thank godness it is in Las Vegas or it could very quickly be my next project!!!:oops:

Yep, there should be a small blue rectangle behind the TC badges too. It was sort of an unofficial US special livery.

Yep, same here in NJ. See some of my getting back on the road thread in members projects

It looks like there was from the photos, although now long faded away!!
 
Here's a plan. Offer $1500 and use the rest for importing to Blighty. You know it makes sense.........Nobody in the US is going to buy that.

If you want to try, reckon on ~$1,500 to transport from NV to Newark docks in NJ. Then shipping costs on a ro/ro across the Atlantic.
 
Still tempted! Anyone got any idea what the red thing is behind the servo (booster) where the battery should be? It looks like a valve of some sort? the ignition coil looks to be to the left of that.

That’s a good question. I wonder if it’s related to the secondary air injection system. This is the first P6 I’ve seen with an air pump fitted too. Possibly for the California market?
 
Interiors "easy" to sort out? Well, if you want original, there's finding one in good order and if not a retrim is minimum 2k ish.

So yes, the spanner work is easy...
 
I wouldn't restore it. It is too good for that. I would clean and wax the outside, replace any interior trim that is missing (dash front and probably top), and give it the most thorough mechanical go over you can imagine. Second hand flat pleat seats turn up quite often so I would just get some better ones. No need to be perfect, or even matching! Seals are all available and not too expensive so replace where necessary. carpets, door cards and other trim is easy to buy or make. TBH I just love the originality. I like that it still has the racing mirror on the side of the bonnet and the odd early rev counter. Even all the side trim and badget are there! I just love it!! I bet the exhaust manifold is cracked though!!
 
That all sounds like a (very good) plan.

Taking a car back to how it was when new isn't always the most desirable option, IMO. There are no end of beautifully restored classic cars around, some which should have been left well alone by their well-meaning but misguided owners. Conservation often trumps restoration.

Well I might be going on a road trip through Vegas before too long so I could probably look at it for interested rescuers…..Odds of it selling this side of 2030 are low.
 
That early rev counter looks familiar.. ;)

The TC in Vegas is very overpriced though. It's a $3k car at the most.
