1966? I dont think so!!

Someone had wacky taste for sure!
At least the clues of its true identity give it away as a very early 1970/1 S2,so why try to fob it off as a 1966 car,as its already tax exempt!
He said it isn't a private plate! :?

Hi I think this is a series 1, don't look at the bits that have been changed look at the bits that havn't for example
the upstands on the slam panel

S1, S2 who cares, Id rather walk than drive that. It is just such a horrible car. Cameron out of an aerosole, interior trim by Aldi's and Vitesse alloys that looked crap on the SD1.

i got offered that car a number of years ago and it was in bedford,he wanted 700 quid 4 it then,it had rear headrests and badgebar,as soon as i looked at it we new it was a stinker,so never bought it,didnt the v8 series 1 come into production in 68 and thats a 66 car, definate RINGER,Bri

Exactly, but as its got a round dial dash, that makes it an early S2.

That is strange. The supports on the front slam panel say it's a 1970-1971 V8 S2..why bother swapping the identity for tax fraud reasons???

Hi Pilkie,
it was a bit of harmless sarcasm. i.e. you don't need to look at other little things as the great big V8 engine and cut out inner wings give it away a little bit.

..mmmm :?

My April '70 Series 1 V8 has the uprights (with correct bonnet) & my December '71 V8S doesn't. I always thought it was just a series 1 V8 thing. :)

Early Series II V8's have them as well - they must have had a surfeit of base units which ran over into Series II.

It's only the very early series twos that had the uprights, cars with HS6 carbs, and even then not all of them, cars with HIF6's never had them, and so hence no 3500S was ever fitted with them no matter how early the car.
